All letters of this Church-Slavonic font are oriented for using as a dropped capitals. Each letter is designed as bright, outstanding individualist purfles text it begins. Every attempt to type whole words with this font will be equal to arrange integral, uniform choir from decade of loud soloists.
The Indycton font is a digitized copy of garniture been used in Church-Slavonic, Russian Orthodox church Divine Service prints approximately of 19th century edition. Prints with this garniture are published as a rule with Moscow or St.Petersburg Synodal Typographies, which arguments assumptions that these typographies are garniture's birthplaces. This is all known for me about original of my font. Original garniture name is unknown too. The "Indycton" is my random choice, based on font's first release birthday (early September, the Orthodox beginning of year, called Indyctos).
Approximately third of letters I've be obliged to design myself, because I cannot found any original print copy of these letters in account of their small statistics of usage as beginning of texts.
The font is designed in United Church-Slavonic Encoding (UCS8). All information, tools and more fonts in this encoding you can found at http://www.mtu-net.ru/irmologion or http://irmologion.narod.ru.
Символы этого церковно-славянского шрифта предназначены для использования в качестве буквиц. Каждая буква в нем задумана быть оригинальной одиночкой, украшающей тот текст, который она начинает. Поэтому набор этим шрифтом целых слов был бы равносилен попыткам составить цельный, однородный хор из десятка певцов вроде Баскова :-)
Шрифт является оцифрованной копией гарнитуры, применявшейся для оформления богослужебных церковно-славянских изданий приблизительно 19 века. Издания, в которых встречается данная гарнитура, обычно выходили из стен Московской и Санкт-Петербургской Синодальных типографий, что дает основание предполагать эти типографии местом рождения гарнитуры. Это все, что мне о ней известно. Остается неизвестным даже ее оригинальное название. Indycton является произвольно выбранным именем, по времени рождения первой версии данной оцифровки (в начале сентября).
В шрифте приблизительно треть букв является плодом моей фантазии, поскольку я не смог найти их печатные оригиналы ввиду редкой статистической частоты появления этих букв в качестве начала текста. Придуманные символы я постарался выдержать в общем стиле гарнитуры.
Шрифт спроектирован в церковно-славянской кодировке UCS8, всю информацию и инструментарий к которой можно получить на http://www.mtu-net.ru/irmologion или http://irmologion.narod.ru.
