GotenburgA Bold by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free blackletter font with a blunt, hand-cut silhouette. Broad vertical strokes meet sharp wedges and hooked tips, giving the letters the rugged geometry of medieval sign painting. The uneven edges keep it lively.
It is most convincing on fantasy game packaging, where the dense forms can suggest an old guild mark or carved inscription. That same severe shape suits heavy-metal merchandise and posters for historical events. Against heraldic beasts, shields, or woodcut-style illustration, the pointed contours become part of the picture rather than neutral lettering.
