Gotenburg A Bold by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free blackletter font with a blunt, hand-cut silhouette. Pointed tips and uneven edges recall roughly carved signage.
Medieval and dark fantasy themes make it a natural fit for game graphics and event posters. It can also lend brewery packaging and heavy metal merchandise a suitably severe edge. In an illustrated crest, the jagged lettering can become part of the emblem rather than serving as neutral text.
